BPM finder
Choose a song and get its tempo in beats per minute, with the beats marked on its waveform. Nothing is uploaded: the file opens in your browser and stays on your device.
The tempo appears here, with the beats on the waveform.
How it works
- Choose an audio file (MP3, M4A or WAV, up to 10 minutes).
- Your browser listens for the beats: it takes a few seconds.
- Play it back with the beat light to check, and download the beat times.
How it counts
- Your browser decodes the song and listens for the moments the sound changes most (the onsets).
- It finds the repeating gap between them, between 60 and 180 BPM, leaning towards about 120.
- Each beat is then lined up with the nearest strong onset.
FAQ
Questions
- Is my file uploaded?
- No. The file is opened by your browser and processed on your device. Nothing is sent to us, and it is released when you load another file or leave the page.
- Why does it show half and double?
- Many songs can be counted at two speeds. If the number feels too fast or slow, the half or double time is usually the one a DJ would use.
- Is it the same as the studio?
- Yes. It is the same beat finder the SeedViral studio uses to cut music videos on the beat.
